Our Policies are Split into the following:
General Statement of Health & Safety Policy
It is the policy of Henry Williams & Son (Roads) Ltd (the Company)
to comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and
all subsequent health, safety and welfare legislation.
It is the company’s policy to provide and maintain a healthy
and safe working environment for its employees, to encourage a positive
health and safety culture within the company and ultimately to achieve
an accident-free workplace.
Employees will be provided with all equipment, information, training
and supervision required to implement the policy and its stated
objectives.
The company recognises and accepts its management’s duty
to protect the health and safety of all visitors to the company,
including sub-contractors and any members of the public who might
be affected by our operations.
Management will work closely with its clients, their representatives,
the Health and Safety Executive and all suppliers and sub
contractors to achieve the necessary standards of health and
safety and to also seek a continual and sustained improvement
in standards.
It is recognised that health and safety at work is the responsibility
of each and every individual associated with the company. It is
the duty of each employee to take reasonable care of their own and
other people’s welfare and to report any unsafe practices
or circumstances to the management immediately.
The company’s health and safety procedures will be monitored
and reviewed at regular intervals throughout the year; particularly
when changes in the scale and nature of our operations occur. The
policy will be updated every 12 months.
The company’s policy includes the following commitments:
- To prevent injury and ill health to employees or others who
may be affected by our work activities.
- To continually improve our Health and Safety Management and
Performance against established,
measurable targets.
- To fully comply with all legal requirements and any standards
imposed by associations or bodies of which the company are
members
- To provide a framework within the Company Health and Safety
Management System by which objectives are set and reviewed.
- To ensure that the Company Health and Safety Management System
is fully documented, implemented and maintained.
- To review the policy at least annually
- To ensure that relevant parts of the Company Health and
Safety Management System are communicated to all persons
working under the control of the organisation and to make
them aware of their individual Health and Safety obligations.
- To ensure that relevant parts of the Company Health and Safety
Management System are made available to interested parties.
- To ensure that the Company Health and Safety Management System
remains relevant and appropriate to the organisation.
Environmental Policy
Henry Williams and Son (Roads) Ltd Limited undertake all
types of highway surfacing works including: surface dressing,
bitmac and asphalt surfacing (hand and machine laid), footway
slurry sealing, resin bonded surface dressing and resin bound
macadam surfacing. The company also carries out civil engineering
and drainage works. The company is based in North East Wales
and works primarily within North Wales, the North West, and
the West Midlands. Surface dressing work is carried out on
a nationwide basis.
The Company recognises its responsibility to comply with
all legislation that will impact upon its Environmental position.
It is our objective to achieve a balance, which addresses
the needs of the business along with the responsibilities
required to operate to an Environmental Management System
to a recognised standard. To this end, Henry Williams and
Son (Roads) Ltd will endeavour to strive to maintain and continually
improve upon this position by committing to:
- Incorporate into the commercial decision making an awareness
of environmental factors. This applies particularly when tendering
for, and starting new contracts.
- Make efficient use of natural resources, minimising waste and
conserving energy and water.
- Promote environmental awareness and understanding amongst all
staff so that their working activities are carried out in accordance
with Legislation, Company Procedures and good practice.
- Endeavour to ensure that our contractors, sub-contractors and
major suppliers are aware of and apply environmental standards
compatible with our own.
- Train, involve and support all employees and stakeholders.
- Ensuring we comply with all relevant environmental legislation.
- A commitment to pollution prevention.
- Continual environmental improvement achieved through environmental
targets and objectives implemented over the next twelve months.
The Managing Director has ultimate responsibility for the environmental
issues of the business, and is aware of the impact on the environment
of the business.
Our environmental achievements over the past year include: Improvements
to the yard and workshop, greater recycling of materials and increased
environmental awareness.
