Resin bonded aggregate is an attractive
and flexible alternative to the more traditional bitumen bonded
surface dressing - a decorative and more sympathetic addition
to the environment when used for prestigious driveways, parkland
pathways and business parks.
In current times, environmental issues have become paramount in
nearly everything we see and produce. Visually, for example, areas
of parkland where there’s public access, approach roads and
car parks to business enterprises - and even private driveways -
are sometimes let down. Perished bitumen coverings and vast areas
of lack in more recent applications present an unattractive solution.
Resin bonded aggregate however leaves he treated area with a rustic,
traditional feel - a finish that emulates naturally and loosely
laid gravel.
Benefits of Resin Bonded Surface Dressing
- Natural stone aggregate
- Sizes vary from 1-3mm up to 10mm
- Large colour range
- Strong and resilient
- Varying grades are available to suit usage - eg. hard, durable
for vehicular areas or rounded for playgrounds
- Combination of resin and traditional surface dressing are possible
with the same contract
The preparation for laying resin bonded aggregate is simple. First
the edges are masked off using a proprietary masking tape to ensure
a clean joint between the surfaces. Then the resin is laid onto
a suitable surface - asphalt, bitumen, concrete, metal or wood -
beautifully simple.
The resin is applied to the prepared surface using a hand-held
squeegee and then a surplus of aggregate is applied, if required.
Once the resin has cured, any surplus can then be easily removed.
With the flexible and aesthetically pleasing qualities of the
resin bonded aggregate, you have just the right mix of tradition
with the resilience of a more modern application. However,
it’s design possibilities don’t stop there. The
surface is so flexible - indeed adaptable, whatever the size
of your project it can be used with cheaper, traditional materials.
Large areas that may have less visual exposure for example,
could benefit from a more cost effective mixed application.
Whereas areas requiring greater aesthetic attention, resin
bonded aggregate comes into its own. So you see, it not only
covers beautifully - but also covers your costs.
