“Surface water drainage from
developed areas is increasingly affecting our river catchments.
As development intensifies, so more water runs rapidly into
rivers and less filters through the soil. This sealing of
the ground can and does lead to localised flooding and water
pollution, and will only get worse as our climate changes.
We need a new approach to drainage that keeps water on site
longer, prevents pollution and allows storage and use of the
water”

Agency Advice Note
Our resin-bound macadam allows surface water to pass directly
through it into the ground, surfacing or storage systems beneath.
We are currently developing construction techniques which will combine
our porous surfacing with a geo-grid or other ground strengthening
technologies to provide a high performance SUDS.
We have recently completed trials of a SUDS system in conjunction
with BASF chemicals at their eco trial house at Nottingham University.
We are monitoring the system’s performance and are continuing
with further trials.
